Barn Quilts

Our Cabin
I say.....Say It With Barn Quilts....being born into a painters' family and becoming #2 of 5 daughters and 3 sons sprinkled in like salt and pepper....some of us being spicy peppers!.....I just love to paint and wallpaper and also quilt....my Mom and Dad did Reproduction Porcelain Dolls after their retirement in the 60's and then after loosing Dad in the early 90's Mom threw herself into quilting and going to the basement to work on the dolls came less and less.....Dad always had his radio on in his section where he clean the bisque and then fired it....so many levels of work.....he got so good at painting eyelashes and brows....Mom was good at the blush too....they were such a team.....always and now forever, as Mom joined Dad in Heaven 10 years ago this month......so with that I say they would be ALL about what we do together as a couple too....we copy them!!.....and they would love the painted Barn Quilts and my longarm that quilts up things....I purchased my machine with my Moms' inheritance that was shared 8 ways....it is "perfect".....
BRRRRRRR!!!!
Then when I spotted Barn Quilts, I just knew it was in the "clouds" for me. My Dad named me...I was #5 and they had one girl and 3 boys and really wanted another girl......then they had 3 more girls!!! after me.....crazy love!!

5500 Quilt Block Designs.....NO KIDDING!!

Maggie Malone put together this awesome pattern book offered on Amazon....it has several chapters and each one has the size grid paper you will need to draw the pattern and then print and use.  It is the old fashioned way, no computer, but I wanted it for design ideas for quilts  plus to use with Barn Quilt selections too .

I am adventurous!!

Also, another great idea I just ran across today and want to keep and share is Litte Miss Shabby  cute idea using squares and petals....very cool. Just visit her sight :)
My other show and tell photos today are random....I am working on my Blog Around The World
showing for this coming Monday and then just some winter photos; reminding me how long our winter was here and how much I enjoyed our Summer here in Indiana...."not too hot and not too cold"....What kind of day are you having or planning.....?

 Blessings!!!

Sam The Man

Sometimes people come into your life in an unexpected Way....Sam is one of those.  Our nieces' son.....precious 11 year old who is going to set the "world on fire"....someday.

My hub had wanted to have him over for a visit for awhile now..... now it is a memory, but they had fun together.

Sam got to ride the lawn mower last night and then mowed grass today.

They did target shooting and more would have happened but  the weather wasn't that cooperative, plus my hub had jet lag from several night shift work and battling the "cold" that is going around here rampant..... so, Sam shared.....
" I really want to make a quilt!" ....  I was floored and
thrilled at the same time.

Then last night my mind was full of ideas and always came back to the modern look and the straight line stitching.....so, this morning, he found a simple 4 block center pattern that was surrounded by longer pieces, etc.....he went to my bolts of fabric and came to his decisions of colors.

We cut them out, measured, figured out how to put it together and  away he went.

Indiana Sunsets!!
Yep!! he sewed the blocks together as he let me direct him and then while he mowed I hurried and loaded up the quilt.
We then hurriedly did as many rows of horizontal of quilting and then I finished a bright binding on it that he chose.....he had to be home around 5pm so he could care for some animals of friends who got "away" for the weekend.

The quilt turned out "wonderfully good!!" and all in just 6 hours time and it was the first time he had done any stitching!!.....he is something else!!!.....a breath of fresh young air!!......

He has energy and imagination with a cooperative attitude and helpful spirit.

Blessings to Mama Emily you did so good with him!!
He is a keeper....now our keeper too!!

Thanks Sam the Man!!........We had a great time!!

A Blessing we were not expecting but oh, so take it!!! take you!!!

So Proud!

He chose all the fabs!  Perfect!

He did so awesome!

He loves the outdoors

Wonderful Memories!
