I wanted to check in with my blog.  We have been so busy

Our kids

working on our wrap porch, planting trees and flower, weeding
and I was preparing two quilts for our Grandson Andrew's Graduation
at the end of the month.....So!! my Suziebell takes up 1/3 of our living space
right now...and I am started.
Heading to meet up with a friend tomorrow in NC....so excited....they
chose Biltmore to meet at!!....we are both excited to meet each other
and hug and talk talk talk1!....oh yes, our hubs will be with us!! and it
being Mom's Day, it should be a very special day for both of us.
Enjoy my update.....more coming.......    A Girl has to do what a Girl's gotta do!!......

This may speed up the addition going out the back!!....the windows will be our doorway then.......

 Blessings Galore.....hope your day is special....and if your Mom is still living; really...take time to be with her....I miss mine still these 10 years passed.....

am seriously praying SOMEONE then gets her permission to make us paper piecing patterns for them
As this has helped me tremendously on my Farmer's Wife I am presently working; by joining the FW group on yahoo.  The paper piecing available there is awesome....I am now on the 54th block of the 111 needed to finish that quilt.  I am doing it in soft pastels in honor of my Quilting Mom Abby....she also made reproduction porcelain dolls for years.....miss her!!!

Feeling Scrappy?

In a hurry today to get back to my quilt room so I can SEW on my "farm"
my Farmer's Wife Quilt....I did 2 blocks yesterday...
We planted 2 Asian Pear Trees and 2 Sour Cherry Trees this morning; they
were added to our orchard that has apples and peaches in it already and
Blueberry bushes.
It is just going to be fun to see it all come together and in a couple years really give us their
bounty......
So, now I can get sewing.........

Wounded?

This is just too excellent not to share......wounded?.....Ann Voskamp
has a way with words....because why?....because she has been
wounded...and offers insights.....not above them....but in them
with us.....

If we have lived.....we have been wounded and we wound.....

I hope this helps others......in a world that increases in wounds.

LaCrosse? Soccer?

So, the Grandgals are playing Lacrosse......did we know what Lacrosse was
when we were growing up?   Not me!  We played backyard games....Basketball,
Soft Ball, Spud, Statues, Badminton,   Hide and Seek at night......in the winter we skated
on a rink my Dad filled with water to freeze....our backyard was the first step
into our World.....

That World has changed but kids still like to be ......kids!!.....

So, one of our youngest Grandgals is now practicing .... playing....Lacrosse......
and we must say she will be "fearless"....she has abounding energy....she does
endless cartwheels (at one point down the hall at her school)....so here she is.....

I found a great pattern for Andrews Grad Quilt .....  Angela Walter's own pattern at Empty Bobbins Sewing....I thought his pictures in the centered squared would work well.  The fabrics will be his interests....carpentry, woodsy and travel.......  His smaller quilt will be SOCCER!!.....What else?....

How are you at doing diamonds?  There are many helps with this
technique.  This is a very helpful video.  Get a cup of coffee and some

Hope this gives you courage!!  Paper piecing is also a good choice....Fresh Lemons  is a great source for that experience.  Presently, I am doing the Farmer's Wife with paper piecing and it is my answer to small pieces and good points.......you know what I mean!!......

It is ALL Hugs And Kisses

You know we just had Valentines Day a couple weeks ago now.  Didn't you
love to make those Valentine Show Boxes all decorated up to receive all your
friend's wishes when we were in Elementary school? ...sweet....cookie sweet too memories. wink

A few years ago when the Internet was new Sweet Helen  introduced me to the Aussie Quilter....she broke all the rules and added embroidery to her quilts and designs.....now she travels and goes to Quilt Markets, etc.....and the current show at The Quilt Show is featuring her technique of Applique.

It is sunny here today with NO RAIN....or even wind.....just a sweet
February day in SC to sit and sew.  I am working on my Farmer's Wife
Quit and I will post my progress in a few days.

Today, I found a video over an hour long to watch while I "smoke" my
blocks together...I love Eleanor Burns and Marianne Fons....nothing better
except maybe Mary Fons with them or Liz Porter....now that would be a party!

These gals are so talented....I am rushing this post as I smell my Chili and Cornbread finishing up.
Our fire is burning for our cold night of 18 here in SC!!....and so! I will be sewing.

My Hub of 45 years had a surprise Miniature Rose Plant on the table with a LOVE balloon.....he got up early and ran to pick it up before I was scrubbing my "face"!!......
and today I am to Quilt.....NO PROBLEM!!....as he works on our kitchen and new tiles.  Oh, I even get a shelf for my new printer....I love renovations....:)!! I love my hub!!

Making Progress

Making progress is always good and since we are doing a renovation siding can cover "alot"....  the buildings are solid .... you can even imagine how full the inside of the garage is....so much more purging to do...but it will come in time.  I have spent some more time putting up my quilts and pictures from our cabin....feeling more comfy now too.
There is the sound of my Farmer's Wife Quilt calling me from my sewing room....how are you doing?
Our son sees a Pituitary Specialist on Wednesday....still waiting to see where all the tests land.....God is watching over him.....his new kidney is doing awesome and his brother is healing; back to running.  Praise!

Can it be half way through January?.....yes, it can be.  We are unpacking still; remodeling as we go...putting siding on the old garage....putting up my Barn Quilts..(yea, Go Buckeyes!).....family pictures, quilts......and working on putting up new tiles (marble) in the kitchen....it never stops for Quilters and Rehab Addicts....and a willing husband....a talented willing husband is even better!!.....so here are some photos of progress.  I did join the BOM of Lynette Anderson.  Her Blog is wonderful and her Little Quilt Store  is special too.  The Quilt Show has an exclusive BOM this year with her.  I have not entered this adventure before but her style of applique is very cool and doable....well I hope I can do it and I love embroidery added all over the quilt for interest. So, there you go.  I have the house about ready to ignore for awhile and get back into quilting....my hearts' desire and passion.....

Prayers for my son are also need; Transplant has gone well, his brother is also back to work in MD....Kevin had blurry vision and now he has an MRI to check the Optic Nerve on Tuesday.....Trust.....
