I learned from watching the video below that they make  half square triangle PAPERS to help us make perfect ones!!
 That can be so important on some projects, you know!

I am feeling so much better.....now poor hub is  coming
down with the flu/cold I had last week....he works ER
so he said he could have gotten it there also.

School Days

Get a cup of Java or Tea......

I am still in classes, let's say, while my URI improves and my inhale and exhale is much "clearer".   Not fun coughing all night though...but it is getting better.  I am thankful for a body that can fight and win !!!

So, while "in class" online I found Jamie Wallen.   In this video he shows the use of his wonderful tool that he designed for applique quilting.   It can be purchased at Quilters Apothecary.


Do you longarm alot.....I DO longarm ALOT; sew it was also great  to learn how to REALLY oil my bobbins Longarm Hook ... WHO KNEW!?

 I sure didn't.

 He also has a tool that will unwarp the bobbin case....OH MY!!....that is the rattle that I hear.  I am so thankful to learn these things!!

I know this is a long post but his idea for "light" over the longarm work you are doing is really something I am asking my Hub to make me. Jamie calls it a Side Light and he gives all the instructions to make one..I am thinking I could even do it myself!!.....

 I also admire the time he takes to mark his quilt tops, align things, and even give tips on helping with the "fullness" that some borders end up with... to me, since he is a guy, he has a different approach to things; like an engineer would.   So, since I am married to such a kind of guy, it just clicked for me yesterday.

I must need inspiration today....I am also adding a Dresden Civil War Block  idea I found accidentally ... well, nothing is really by accident, but it is a good "scrappy" block to use up any fabrics......she made the pattern and shares about it on her blog. 

  It is a beautiful day here in Indiana.  Hope your day is full of joy and maybe, even a few quilted stitches too.  Blessings!!!

I am quilting again; atleast during a day of rain.... Oh, Yes, I will be back to staining and out side work tomorrow. 

I don't mind rain when I can quilt. I am learning feathering so it takes practice; this quilt is for our Queen bed.  I love Fig Tree Quilts .   

  I Love her fabrics too.....,
the houses will be outlined and just the
roof will show tiles.
The wool and flannel leaves add depth too.

Recent Full BRIGHT Moon; Beautiful

The book is a few years old now.
I pieced the top this winter.  I surely hope I do her fabric and
pattern justice with my 'learning curve" quilting.
I have decided that I do need the smaller micro handles added
to my Gammill......SOON!!!....... it is on my wish list.

Beach Life

Is life a beach for you?
  We have very good family
memories on beaches....sand, water, picnics....relaxing and just laughing together about "nothing"..... catching the "waves"

My neighbor in SC loves lighthouses and going to the beach. So, this is her quilt soon......the pattern is suppose to be
lighthouse light beams...and then the panel was just perfect for her

....The Quilt is done now. It needs
trimmed and bond before the final photo.

Again ,I enjoyed doing the organic straight stitch on it with different spaces between them.  Oh, the back? it is a patriotic print; she has a son who served many tours in Afghanistan as a helicopter pilot....Bless Him and his family.

Life can be fun at the beach.  Quilted Hugs today!! 

A Filling Day

Such a blessings today...listened to Elizabeth George and started longarming my SC neighbors" Nautical Quilt....YUM!!!

I am "making a few waves" at the top and bottom and using the straight organic quilting on it.  The fabrics are so gorgeous and the panel in the center is sweet; I will probably echo most of that......  So, I started!!

 As far as Quilt retreats go,  The Janiac Retreat in Shipshewana Indiana would be so much fun!  It is near by. :)

Such a good good morning....after I read abit and if I hurry and deep clean today, I can longarm later, since it is foggy now and rain is promised later in the day; aw!! can't stain today....booohoooo will have to quilt!!.......

 Two Quilts sent off to two teen Grandgals....Ride on and Urban Beads in the straight line Organic Quilting....Fun!!
  Crop duster flying low over the cabin as I stained between the boards on our back porch....staining is a tedious job, so the diversion was great!!....
   Summer is going forward....it has been a cool one here; only 2 days of Air Conditioning needed
....thats' Craziiness!! but nice on our budget.
   I enjoyed working on these quilts...it is always nice to get them also sent to their new homes and lives!

That is so awesome!  This one is a bit longer but it is sweet too.....Hand Quilting Hints  is what I am going to  call it.
 If you have never hand quilted, please give it a try.  My older sister prefers hand quilting.

 I have a quilt from the 1920's I found with pink houses on it...someone put the pencil marks for hand quilting...I want to get it basted to my quilt frame and give it a try or my lap quilting hoop would be fun too.
